John Pye's South Wales site participates in the £2 billion Kickstart Scheme

In alignment with the government's visionary Plan for Jobs in 2021, our participation in the £2 billion Kickstart Scheme has yielded remarkable results, creating numerous employment opportunities for young individuals aged 16-24 across the nation. At our South Wales site in Port Talbot, we took an active role in this initiative, transforming it into a resounding success that significantly benefited the local community, our business, and, most importantly, the young participants.

Over a 12-month period, we proudly welcomed 26 enthusiastic youngsters from diverse backgrounds, offering them a chance at meaningful employment. Recognizing the unique circumstances of each participant, we provided essential wraparound support, addressing personal and financial challenges, from mental health issues to caring responsibilities.

Our commitment went beyond the workplace. To ensure accessibility, we provided a free transport service to and from our site, addressing our location not being on a public transport route. Moreover, a dedicated Case Worker was assigned to guide the young talents through the transition from benefits to wages, handle workplace issues, and assist in making positive changes at home.

During their 6-month placements, we invested in their growth, providing comprehensive training in-house and collaborating with local colleges. The success story continues as we proudly offer full-time, permanent employment to some, breaking barriers and fostering lasting connections with the young talents who might not have otherwise received such opportunities. This initiative marks a commitment to empowerment, resilience, and a brighter future for the next generation.
