John Pye, the co-founder and Director of John Pye & Sons, embarked on his entrepreneurial journey in 1968 alongside his wife, Ann. Together, they initiated ‘Furniture & General Auctions’ at Nottingham’s former Cattle Market site. Starting with probate house clearances, the venture expanded into cessation of business asset disposals and private chattels.

An influential figure in the UK auction industry, John co-founded and served as the President of the National Association of Valuers and Auctioneers (NAVA). Beyond the company’s inception, he has been instrumental in its growth, offering invaluable guidance to the extended leadership team.

Officially retiring in 2002, John remains an active force. He authored the book ‘An Auction of Laughs’ and frequently visits sites across the UK. His enduring commitment reflects a passion for the industry that extends far beyond his formal retirement.
